MKPortal - Review

What do you think about MkPortal?
Some say it's really ugly but I liked it from the first time I worked with it. It may not be as powerful as other CMS but it's control panel is really intuitive and easy to work with. Another thing about MkPortal is that it has in my opinion the best block managing system. You can choose very easily where to put them and their order. It's by far the best at this, at least for what I know.
The mods are usually pretty simple to install but the most powerful ones require quite a lot of editing the scripts. I once wanted to install a mod that not only it didn't support myBB as a board but it also was for an older version of MkPortal so even though I managed to make it work I had a great amount of work to do and I edited sooooo many files that I can't even remember how many they were exactly Big Grin
But I liked it. I still use it on my site but for my next project I'm gonna try something else. Tongue

RE: MKPortal

I like Joomla the most on CMS. So I don't have experience with MKPortal. But your site looks very fine.

I support Joomla because they have large support team and good number of Mods. You can find all kind of mods for your site. Better to integrate with Forums like phpBB, IBP, ect.. Site likes real estate, shopping cart, podcast, ect.. are very easy with Joomla.

The best feature of Joomla is that they provide great interface between the script code and user. Administrators of the sites feel very comfort even they are illiterate on the field of programming.

RE: MKPortal - Review

Actually, I also tried Joomla but I found it very difficult to configure. It just didn't worth the effort. As you said, it's good for sites like real estate and shopping cart but it was way too much of a nuisance as a simple CMS for my forum. I gave up on it and sticked to MkPortal, the best for my purposes.

My answer is YES.
Only because they has large supporting community and good number of mods available. Also it is the only CMS I worked for long time. Joomla is very good for podcasting sites.

In theory it should help you.
But why don't you visit their site and check out their list of features and mods? This way you can be sure!

Read the installation procedure for the script. Do the installation step by step as mentioned on the script documents. Before installation, check the minimum specifications needed...

If you done every thing perfect, you can easily install the script.

Script like Joomla (CMS Script) definitely help you to built your site and control the entire site with the site administration option. Also scripts helps you to stay away from the actual codes.

There is another option available to make your site with script "Blogs". Just install a blog script and put the contents day by day... No need of doing any other things with it. Blog also tracks search engine faster than other normal sites since search engine loves blogs.

So you can make a good site easier with blog scripts.

RE: MKPortal - Review

I truly found Joomla as a hard CMS. I have seen many demos of MKPortal and didn't like the interface much. I don't want to say that Joomla is worst, but it is hard to manage. The easiest one I ever found was IcyPhoenix.

I was able to manage one of my site with Joomla software for the last two years and Iam very happy with the site's performance. The fact about Joomla is true that it is a hard CMS. Administration interface is very complicated and their codes are not structured properly, for making code changes for our own needs.

Never worked with IcyPhoenix.. A review about that is more handy for me. Thanks.
