TI-Basic

Does anyone here (I'm still in school) program their Texas Instruments graphing calculators?

I'm a fanatic of that. I have soooo many games and a music player for my TI-89 Titanium, and have made 28 programs so far.

Is there anyone else like that out there?

I'm not related with the instrument. But you are doing a great Job...

Visited the archive and saw a good collection of programs on there.
Which program you are using?

RE: TI-Basic

It's an on-calc compiler/programmer, which is pretty basic, but gets the job done.

Oddly enough, when I saw the title of this thread, my first thought was of the TI-99/4A home computer from 1981; boy is that going back.

Pardon the interuption, please continue.

RE: TI-Basic

Well, that might as well contribute.

The TI-99/4A uses the same programming language as todays TI calculators (TI-Basic and asm).

RE: TI-Basic

I must admit. I too thought of the TI-99/4a.
I learned to program on the TI-99/4a when I was a kid. I started programming when I was around 3, but didn't do anything major until I was around 5, so I usually say I started programming when I was 5. Before then it was just incredibly basic programs such as print, take input, print, take input. RPG's rocked! Tongue
I programmed a few basic arcade games as I got older. I still have that thing in my closet of my room.

RE: TI-Basic

Nah, I just didn't watch much TV. Tongue Except Star Trek.

Really, it's not hard to program basic things when you play around with it at that age. It's like learning if you cry your mom will give you what you want. Tongue I typed print and whatever I wanted, and it printed. Same thing with any other command. You just type it, and watch the results. Then you string those things together. By the time I got into programming more complex programs I'd already been messing around with it for 2 years.
Actually, I can remember learning the print command. I thought it was soo confusing, because I knew what a printer was, and I wondered why they called it print when it put it on the screen. Tongue I thought it should be something that was more descriptive.
Now I understand why they call it print. Big Grin Thankfully eventually I got it. Tongue

RE: TI-Basic

You are very lucky person to play with computer tools on your small ages.. Smile

On our time, a simple computer costs thousands. It is impossible to imagine these stuffs on my childhood..

I learned programming after my high school studies, started with C. It is very difficult to understand the programming concept on first days.

Yeah, it was passed down from my brother. My mom got it for him on sale at Walmart because they were getting rid of all their stock.

I took introduction to Programming in High School, which taught me Visual Basic. (only class offered) Then I took C/C++ and a few other languages in college.
